Many developers have implemented a hidden feature in their apps that make them "call home" and report your registration data (and some of your personal and computer data too). If the developers ban the registration data you are using, the app will not work anymore with the registration you were using.

To avoid this you should block the IP's the app tries to connect with (and you also should disable the "check for updates" preference, just in case).
