There are several preferences that can be set. To set preferences open the preferences dialog. For MacOS X: click on the Application menu and then Preferences. For Windows/MacOS 9: click on the Edit menu and then Preferences.
Internet

Here is the option to switch on or off the automatic connecting to the internet. For more information as to why the program wants to connect to the internet see the Connection to internet section.
General

You can set general application preferences here.
It is possible to have iSerial Reader automatically re-open the most recently opened file the next time the program is launched.
The instruction bubble is normally drawn below every list of serial bubbles when using a Serial Box 2 file. Here you can switch off this bubble.
You can choose to automatically check for updated versions on launch. See the Connecting to internet section for more information.
Cache

Information that has been automatically or manually downloaded from the internet can be cached for a specific amount of time. It will then not be neccessary to repeatedly access the internet for the same information. Remember that caching means the information will not be updated. If you set the amount of days the cache should be stored too high the information could be outdated.
Fonts

Here you can choose the font and fontsize that the program will use to display information.
Codebook (Mac Only)

Set the path to the Codebook plug-ins folder. After this you can load Codebook information by choosing File > Codebook (Command-B).
